Tatkal services have sped the process of marriage registration. The Revenue Secretary of Delhi Mr. Dharam Pal has given his words regarding the introduction of the Tatkal marriage registration act “In compliance with a Supreme Court order in 2006, Delhi government had made mandatory the registration of marriage within 60 days of tying the nuptial knot. The ‘tatkal’ service has been introduced to provide the papers on a priority basis to those who seek them urgently,”  He further added “The service, which became operational on April 22, enables citizens to register their nuptials and get a certificate issued within 24 hours on payment of Rs. 10,000 as a fee,”

In general, the Government authorities charge INR 100 and INR 150 for registering the marriage under Hindu Marriage Act and Special Marriage Act respectively.
